How do I book a diving session with Emperator Diving?

How far in advance do I need to book?
It really depends on how busy we are — sometimes we’re fully booked 2 weeks ahead.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept payment by credit card, cash, and even foreign currencies (€-£-$).
Does the center offer free transfer from my hotel?
If you’re located in the north, we can pick you up from your hotel.
Do I need to be certified to dive with Emperator Diving?
No certification is needed for a discovery dive — you just need to be over 8 years old and in good health.
What’s the minimum age to start diving?
Discovery dives are available from age 10, and we have another program, “Bubble Maker,” for those aged 8-9.
Which PADI certifications do you offer (Open Water, Advanced, etc.)?
We offer Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, EFR, and Divemaster courses.
How long does a full PADI course take?
The Open Water, Advanced Open Water, and Rescue Diver courses can each be completed in 3 half-days.
Where are the best dive sites in Mauritius?
Mauritius is mainly divided into 4 zones: North, West, East, and South. Diving in the northern islands offers a huge advantage over the other zones, such as excellent visibility thanks to the currents and the absence of ravines during heavy rains, as well as a large number of highly varied dive sites, such as drop-offs, wrecks, coral reefs, and large schools of fish.
What level is required to see sharks at Round Island / Snake Island?
Since these are sporty dives with current and swell, we require a minimum level of experience in this area, and we reserve the right to require a test dive day before confirming.
What’s the best time of year to see whales in Mauritius?
Humpback whales generally arrive around July, but we often wait until the end of the month to start our trips. We only schedule these outings a few days in advance, depending on the weather and the locations where whales have been spotted.
What’s the average visibility at your dive sites?
Visibility at dive sites in the north of Mauritius is excellent, often around 30m.
Do you offer snorkeling trips for non-divers?
On our trips to Coin de Mire and Flat Island, non-divers are welcome and can enjoy beautiful snorkeling!
What’s the best time of year to come diving in Mauritius?
We dive all year round and there is no “best” time of year — the only real difference lies in the water temperature. In summer, from December to April, the sea is warm, around 28°C, and in winter, from July to September, around 23°C.
Is diving equipment provided, or should I bring my own?
We provide all the equipment you might need.
What safety measures are in place at sea (oxygen, radio, qualified staff)?
We are audited several times a year by various different auditors (KMB / MSDA / LUX), so we’re proud to welcome you under the best possible conditions. A VHF radio is available on the boat and at the center for communication, each dive guide can also use a surface GPS Nautilus Lifeline to be located at sea, the boat is also equipped with a GPS tracker, and we use professional weather forecasting charts.
What’s the maximum number of people per group/boat?
We aim to limit groups to 5 divers per instructor.
Can I dive if I have a specific medical condition?
If you’re not sure whether you’re physically fit to dive, feel free to contact us or ask your doctor directly.
What type of equipment do you offer for rental?
Where exactly is Emperator Diving Center’s base located?
We are located on the beach of the LUX* Grand Gaube hotel.
Can I access the center if I’m not staying at a partner hotel?
Yes, outside guests are welcome!
How far is the base from the boat?
Our base is just 15m from the boat!
What happens if a trip is cancelled due to weather?
Under our terms and conditions, if we decide to cancel a trip due to weather, we will fully refund your booked day.
